ARDMS Specialty Exams — Choose Your Credential
Ultrasound Analytics supports preparation for all seven ARDMS specialty registrations. Each specialty has its own question bank, AI tutoring, full-length 170-question exam simulation, and performance analytics dashboard calibrated to the official ARDMS content outline for that exam. Select the specialty below that matches the credential you are pursuing.
Abdomen (AB) — RDMS Credential
The ARDMS Abdomen specialty exam covers the liver, gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, retroperitoneum, and abdominal vasculature. It is a 170-question, 3-hour examination. 2025 first-time pass rate: 73%. Key topics include liver segmental anatomy, hepatic and biliary pathology, renal pathology, splenic disease, and abdominal vascular Doppler assessment.
Breast (BR) — RDMS Credential
The ARDMS Breast specialty exam covers breast anatomy, the ACR BI-RADS lexicon, benign and malignant pathology, image-guided procedures, and supplemental screening. It is a 170-question, 3-hour examination. 2025 first-time pass rate: 77%. Key topics include BI-RADS category assignments, solid and cystic mass characterization, and post-procedure imaging.
Fetal Echocardiography (FE) — RDMS Credential
The ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography exam covers normal fetal cardiac development, congenital heart defects, fetal arrhythmias, cardiac Doppler assessment, and genetic associations. It is a 170-question, 3-hour examination. 2025 first-time pass rate: 75%. Key topics include tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great arteries, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, and ventricular septal defects.
OB/GYN (OB) — RDMS Credential
The ARDMS Obstetrics and Gynecology specialty exam covers the full spectrum of normal and abnormal pregnancy imaging, fetal anatomy surveys, biometry, Doppler, gynecologic pathology, and first-trimester evaluation. It is a 170-question, 3-hour examination. 2025 first-time pass rate: 80%, the highest among all seven specialties.
Pediatric Sonography (PS) — RDMS Credential
The ARDMS Pediatric Sonography exam covers age-specific anatomy, neonatal cranial ultrasound, developmental dysplasia of the hip, pyloric stenosis, and pediatric pathology patterns that differ fundamentally from adult sonography. It is a 170-question, 3-hour examination. 2025 first-time pass rate: 71%.
Vascular Technology (VT) — RVT Credential
The ARDMS Vascular Technology exam covers hemodynamics, carotid stenosis criteria, deep vein thrombosis protocols, peripheral arterial disease, and abdominal vascular assessment. It is a 170-question, 3-hour examination. 2025 first-time pass rate: 70%, one of the two most challenging ARDMS exams. Passing the VT exam earns the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential.
Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) — RDMS/RVT Prerequisite
The ARDMS SPI exam is the physics prerequisite required before earning any ARDMS specialty credential. It covers sound wave physics, transducer construction, image formation, ultrasound artifacts, Doppler principles, quality assurance, and bioeffects. It is a 110-question, 2-hour examination. 2025 first-time pass rate: 74%.
